Directory of Contaminants Database

The information contained in this database represents edition 1 March 2000 of the Directory of Sources of Contaminants Entering Municipal Sewer Systems compiled by CWWA and assisted by Environment Canada. The information will be updated on a regular basis.

This is a web-based database composed of a listing of contaminants that are used in various industrial applications. The database may be searched using a parameter or an industrial sector. Any discrepancies and/or new additions to the database may be submitted to CWWA for addition to the database.

It is hoped that, through the use of tools such as this web-based database, industrial, municipal, commercial and agricultural sectors will share their resources and knowledge leading to some consistency in approach to water and wastewater management in Canada.

The database provides insight into the types of contaminants that may be found in industrial wastes and subsequently discharged to receiving waters or municipal systems.
