2011 Scholarship Information

In recognition of Steve Bonk’s guidance and development of CWWA and his roles as leader and ambassador of the water and wastewater sectors, a scholarship in his name was established by CWWA in 1995. The scholarship is intended to provide educational assistance to those embarking on careers associated with municipal water supply or wastewater. The scholarship of $500 will be awarded annually.

Eligibility

Applicants shall:

be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada;
be a resident of a current CWWA municipal member, OR attend college or university in a municipality or that is itself a CWWA Academic member* ;
have completed successfully at least one year of post secondary education;
be registered as a full-time student in further studies in a Canadian college or university; and
intend to pursue a career related to the municipal water or wastewater industry.

Applications

Applications in either English or French, shall be submitted to the CWWA office at:

by June 1, 2011 and shall include:

a copy of the post-secondary course transcripts completed to date;
a description/list of planned further studies;
and a 500-word statement or essay of the applicant's interest, knowledge and future goals in the water/wastewater industry together with applicable work experience or extracurricular activities.

Selection

Selection will be on an equal opportunity basis with the assessment based on:
academic achievement - 30%; Statement/Essay - 60%; and Work experience/extra-curricular activities - 10%
