The 3rd Canadian National Conference and Policy Forum on Wastewater Management is the third in the biennial series of wastewater conferences and policy forum events intended to bring together policy makers, regulators, managers of wastewater systems, consultants and related Associations. Its goal is to identify and assess the changing policy and regulatory initiatives across the country and provide insights and possible solutions to the challenges to be faced by wastewater managers in the coming five years and beyond.
This Conference will take place immediately before the 5th National Residuals and Biosolids Conference also in Niagara Falls, hosted by WEAO from September 13 to 15, for persons wishing to attend both events.
There are many interconnected elements in the management of wastewater encompassing sanitary and industrial wastewater and storm water. The elements include pollution prevention planning, source control programs, treatment and discharge regulations and technologies, rain and storm water collection and re-use, water conservation and treated wastewater reuse. Management and policies around residuals and biosolids are also an essential element of Wastewater Management.
The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment will begin implementing the Municipal Waste Water Strategy in 2009 and will also be commencing work on the harmonized management of biosolids.
This Conference will focus on pan-Canadian policy, regulatory and technology issues, and current or emerging research results and priorities. It will provide an opportunity to learn about emerging approaches and initiatives that impact the way wastewater and all its elements are managed. The common goal is to protect the environment from pollutants and contaminants, whether they pass through municipal wastewater collection and treatment systems or not. The Conference will also provide an opportunity to learn about different policy and management practices implemented across the country and internationally.
It will give delegates a unique opportunity to meet and discuss ways to integrate all components of wastewater into their management plans.
If you are any of the following, this Event is not to be missed:

Energy efficiency has always been a worthwhile and sought after goal in the water industry. In today's environment of global warming and rising energy prices energy efficiency is even more relevant. But how can we improve on what we already do well? Is there room for improvement? What else can we do? To help answer these questions the CWWA recently formed the Energy Committee. The Energy Committee is intended to provide leadership and a knowledge sharing forum. On September 10th, the Committee is hosting an Energy Efficiency Seminar in Niagara Falls, ON. The Seminar will provide an opportunity to share ideas on energy efficiency and learn about what else is out there.

One Wonder After Another
Of course it is known for the famous waterfalls where it gets its name from, but Niagara Falls has so much more to offer than this incredible sight. The city hosts a multitude of high class restaurants and internationally recognized wineries, as well as some of the nicest golf courses in Canada. There is fun for all ages, ranging from Marineland to Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum to casinos, for those who want to try their luck. If you would like to experience the Falls themselves, there are a few ways to do so. The Maid of the Mist tour takes you to the base of Niagara Falls, where you’re sure to feel the spray. A new way to see them is by Skywheel, a ferris wheel that gets you soaring 175 feet in the air. All of these reasons and more add up to an adventure you should experience and an opportunity you should grasp…visit Niagara Falls.
